An hour’s drive from our  Hotel Locanda Ippopotamo in Verona ,  Mantua  is a very interesting historical city to visit in any period.

Surrounded by three lakes, Mantua, first Etruscan then Roman city, became the city of the Gonzagas in 1328.

The most important part to visit is the historic center where the most important buildings reside such as the Palazzo del Te, the Cathedral dedicated to St. Peter, the Palazzo Ducale, the house of Rigoletto and Piazza Erbe, where you can admire the Palazzo della Ragione.

For those who love shopping, on the other hand, after a walk in the historic center of  Mantua , it is possible to visit the only outlet in the area, the Mantua Fashion District, located near the exit of the Mantova Sud motorway exit.
